Panel Technician


We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Vehicle Damage Panel Technician to join our modern bodyshop environment. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience across a wide range of vehicles, supporting your development into a skilled paint and refinishing professional within the automotive repair industry.


As part of a bodyshop team, you will contribute directly to restoring vehicles to manufacturer and customer standards, playing a key role in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship with structured training, workplace mentoring, and assessor-led learning.


What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)


As an Apprentice Panel Technician, you will:

  • Remove, repair, and replace vehicle body panels to manufacturer specifications

  • Repair structural and non-structural vehicle body damage

  • Refurbish and repair trim components

  • Carry out thermal joining processes, including welding operations

  • Use non-thermal joining, bonding, and adhesive techniques such as TIG, MIG, MAG, resistance spot welding, and mechanical fastening

  • Identify and correct vehicle body structural misalignment

  • Use specialist alignment jigs and equipment to restore vehicle geometry

  • Interpret repair specifications accurately and follow defined repair processes

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in safe working condition

  • Complete work efficiently, meeting quality, safety, and delivery standards

  • Communicate clearly with team members and customers throughout the repair process

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

While not essential, the following are advantageous:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) English – Grade 4/C or above

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths – Grade 4/C or above

  • Basic IT skills

  • A full driving license

Training & Development

  • Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician

  • Duration: 36 months

Training Delivery (government-approved provider):

  • Assessor-led workplace learning with online support

All apprentices receive structured support to build competence, confidence, and industry-recognised skills.
