Paint Technician
We are looking to expand our team and have a vacancy for an Apprentice Paint Technician where you will learn and develop the skills in the Automotive paint role.
You will complete every aspect of painting a vehicle from paint preparation, through to painting, polishing. The role of an Apprentice Paint Technician includes Mixing different paint and materials Matching colours, An awareness of different paint systems, paint equipment, special effect paints.
Preparing paint, Preparing the bodywork of panels and maintaining and cleaning equipment that’s used in the training sessions.
Details:
Working Hours 36.5 hrs per week – 9.00am to 5.00pm Month to Thursday, 9.00am to 4.00pm Friday – 30 minute break each day
Annual Leave Entitlement – 25 days excluding bank holiday – 3 to be taken between Christmas and New year.
Pay (National Apprentice Wage is £7.55) - £18,500.00 per annum starting salary
Entitled to join Bupa after 6 month of employment

A Paint Technician:
Apply body filler & foundation materials
Prepare all types of vehicle body material
Prepare & refinish metal, plastic and pre-painted surfaces
Repair minor defects in all types of body panels and materials
Apply paint, primer and basecoat
Apply topcoats and clear coats and complete final refinishing operations
Identify and rectify paint or preparation defects
Utilise modern drying and curing techniques such as Ultra Violet (UV), Infrared and catalytic solutions used in the refinishing industry.
Is able to interpret and work accurately to repair specifications.
Has the ability to work in a focused, analytical and methodical way, completing repairs on time, every time with a right-first-time, customer focused culture under-pinning all their activities.
Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines.
Check the condition and ensure the correct maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials.
Embraces the need to put complete customer satisfaction, as well as commercial awareness, at the centre of everything they do.
Ensures all health and safety policies are adhered to.
Undertake all other tasks and activities as requested by the Bodyshop Manager.
Has effective communication throughout the repair process, both with clients and with other members of the team.
Displays a good attitude, a positive approach to learning & development and a high level of ambition.
All apprentices are trained through their apprenticeship to achieve these levels of performance and activity.
Qualifications:
Applicants are required to have, or predicted to obtain, GCSEs at grades A*-C/ 9-4 (or equivalent) in English, maths, and ICT (or one other subject if candidate did not take ICT)
Desired skills:
Communication skills, IT skills, Team working, Attention to detail, Proactive, Initiative, Manual Skills, Driving Licence (advantageous)

Training:
Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centres.
Our expert trainers will guide you through the training programme using a combination of e-learning, classroom learning and practical application.
In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained through the remote sessions and at the Training centre Centre.
This is a fully rounded training experience where you will build life skills that last and gain Apprenticeship qualifications.

Future progression:
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with one of Europe's largest Paint companies. As an Apprentice you will receive training and support throughout your qualification and be enrolled onto a 3 year paint apprenticeship in which you will receive a Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
